I changed the stepper controller from 1 full step to 1/8 steps. Which means I have to change steps per inch from 2000 to 36000.
I then ran the x and y axis to their full lengths and measured. When this machine was originally designed the carriages for the x axis were shorter which gave the full 24 x 36 inch travel. Because the x axis carriages are a bit longer for stability, the machine now has 24 x 35 inches of travel. Which is still really nice for my plans of use for the machine.
I also rewired my motors from serial bipolar to parallel bipolar. It was recommended to me in a forum that it would help performance.
Thanks
